Tom Davis is a Columbus (OH) musician, who works primarily as a guitarist and bassist. He performs in a variety of styles as both a bandleader and sideman throughout the US and UK, most regularly with local groups: Vaughn Weister’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, The Pete Mills B3 4-Tet, Willie Nelson Mandela, Flogo Shaggins (band leader and writer), Ray Massa’s Eurorhythms, Alex Burgoyne Quartet, The Maninos, Spectrum, and more. While living in Edinburgh, Davis toured with top bands and performers in a variety of styles including award-winning jazz musicians Ali Affleck, Brian Kellock, and Dick Lee. Davis has recorded extensively with artists in the US and UK, including albums by Ali Affleck (UK), Dick Lee’s Swingtet (UK), Flogo Shaggins, Vaughn Weister’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Bonzai Quartet (UK), Ulysses Jones (UK), and Korey Black. Davis earned a B.M. in Jazz Studies from Capital University in 2006 and a Master of Music degree in Musicology from The University of Edinburgh in 2011. He is currently a faculty member in the Conservatory of Music at Capital University, as well as general music faculty at The Columbus College of Art and Design.
